[Review] Thousand Flavors at Seribu Rasa

  • 1

How does fine dining Indonesia looks like? If this question ever pass onto your mind, then you need to put this restaurant to your bucket list! Seribu Rasa is inspired by the richness of Indonesian and South East Asian flavors, thus the restaurants name literally translates to “One Thousand flavors”. Seribu Rasa currently have three branches located at Menteng, Mall Gandaria City, and Lotte Shopping Avenue.

I had the chance to taste the delicacies during a dinner at the Menteng branch. I was attracted by the exterior design of this restaurant. It looks fascinating at night with the combination of its classic Betawi building design and modern lighting setup. Certainly, its exterior outlook will attract pedestrians passing by to come in and try a bite.

When you enter the restaurant, you can feel the warm vibe right away. The ambience was really great at night, with dim warm lighting, wooden furnitures and many unique Indonesian ornaments. I love the concept for their interior design, it is modern without losing the traditional touch.

For the menu, they have a wide variety of food, but mostly seafood served in Indonesian, Malaysian, Singaporean and Thai style. Every dished was served in a unique and unusual cooking style, with special presentation.

Beef Satay Kotagede

This beef satay is served on top of a burning charcoal, with a small bowl of special sauce and a bowl of pickled cucumber and carrot. The beef meat itself is very chewy, and tasted heavenly combined with the sweet-spicy sauce.

The burning charcoal was a cool addition for this food presentation, though it does not keep the satay warm enough. Nevertheless, I would order this dish again during my next visit here.

Coconut Seafood Andaman

I would say this seafood dish is my favorite part of the night. The seasoning is just perfect, with the right amount of salt and spiciness. I love the fact there is variety of seafood in this one dish, from fish, shrimp to squid. White rice will be the perfect mate to this rich-flavored meal.

Oyster Omelet

I was attracted to this dish because of a famous night market dish in Taiwan. By the look of it, it looks more crispy and dry compared to what I had tried in Taiwan’s famous Shilin Night Market. You can say that this is an Indonesian version of what I had. It is still tasty, and goes well with sauce that comes with it. I’d recommend this dish to those who likes a twist to their usual omelette.

Dried Scallop String Bean

This string bean sauteed with dried scallop chili sauce dish is the spiciest among of our orders. Eating it with white rice will make the spiciness a lot more acceptable. Overall, it’s great addition to our meal.

Soursop Juice

Finally for my drink/dessert, I ordered this yummy fresh soursop juice. I like it since the sweetness fits my taste. It’s the perfect drink to cap off a meal.

After dinner, I had the chance to roam around the restaurant. I found that there is a small pavillion at the back of the restaurant. That pavillion is a private room with a roof that is reminiscent of old Javanese houses (Joglo).

The interior of this private dining room is perfectly designer for big business dining or family gathering. It can fit up to 20 people at a time, with a round table that is suitable for family style dining.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the food I ordered and the service Seribu Rasa provided. With this quality of food and refined interior design, I’d recommend this restaurant for business dining, family gathering or just dining with friends or coworkers. Come and visit to taste the one thousand flavor at Seribu Rasa.
